About me

At The FinOps Foundation, I lead product design across multiple platforms, focusing on how design systems, interface patterns, and thoughtful workflows can support our users at scale. My role blends strategic thinking with hands-on design—collaborating with engineers and stakeholders to continuously evolve our products in response to user needs.

Career

With over a decade of experience in product design, I’ve worked with clients across a broad range of sectors—from Web3 and blockchain gaming to international development, tourism, training and events, and military logistics.

I’m at my best when working across disciplines: combining user research, visual design, product strategy, marketing, and project management to bring ideas to life. I enjoy partnering with creative teams, ambitious start-ups, and purpose-driven organisations to help them realise their vision.

I've also mentored design students at Memorisely, sharing insights on UX/UI and design systems to support the next generation of designers. I’m always curious, always learning, and always up for a challenge.

Personal

When I’m not at my desk, you’ll likely find me outdoors—surfing, hiking, running, or exploring new trails in my micro-camper.

I love slow travel and immersing myself in new places, having lived in New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, and Timor-Leste. I’m now based in Bournemouth, UK, and happily call it home (for now), using it as a base for both work and adventure.

Testimonials

"I would put James on any problem that requires detailed thinking and systemic, organized design. Plus, he's just a likeable chill guy."
